1. Swiss Army Huntsman: I’ve been sporting the same Swiss Army Knife for the past 10+ years (at least I think it’s the same one). I bought a couple more over the years and left one in my car and bug-out-bag. Definitely a staple in any campers arsenal. Comes equipped with 14 different tools:
- small blade
- large blade
- reamer (used to punch a hole into leather, a belt for instance)
- sewing eye
- wire stripper
- can opener
- bottle opener
- screwdriver
- corkscrew
- woodsaw
- toothpick
- tweezers

The Huntsman has 4 Layers of tools. If you want something just a little more lighter/compact (with 3 Layers), check out the Swiss Army Camper. It has everything the Huntsman has, except it’s missing 2 tools: Scissors and Hook.
2. Sugru: is a self-setting rubber. You open a Sugru packet to find something that resembles play-dough. You mold the Sugru with your hands, which can bond to almost anything. Overnight it turns into a strong, flexible silicone rubber. For camping, people have used it to fix their tents, sleeping pads, mattresses, boots and zippers. Campers have also used it to insulate metal handles on camp cookware. The possibilities of what you can fix is only limited by your imagination.
3. Figure 9 Carabiner: Rope Tightener / Tensioning Tool. Easily achieve high rope tension to secure a load! Conveniently clips to fixed points for an easy connection. Eliminates the hassle of tying, adjusting and then untying knots. Use it to: secure a tarp, carry a load of firewood, hang food up a tree, tie down gear (ATV, Truck, Motorcycle), secure tent guylines, a canopy, etc.
4. Key Knife: What do you always carry on your person? Your keys! What are you always looking for every few days? A knife! (Well, at least I am) Always has a low-profile, inconspicuous knife on you – right in plain site! When the time comes when you need to cut something and you’re about to say, “Dammit! I need a kni…”; you’ll stop yourself mid-sentence. You just remembered you have one right next to your house keys! 5. Wallet Card Knife: Do you want a knife for those “just-in-case” moments? A lot of times we can misplace our knives and in those instances, at least we have a backup resource. The credit card sized utility knife by Iain Sinclair is light, sharp and compact. By three folding operations, the card is transformed into a pocket utility tool. The safety lock guarantees it won’t open in your pocket.
6. Smith’s Pocket Pal X2: The Pocket Pal X2 is the upgraded model to the PP1 Pocket Pal. The old model had a Carbide sharpener, Ceramic sharpener and a Diamond Rod. The new model has these same features, but now includes a: Whistle, Firestarter, Compass and Flashlight. Just throw it in your bug-out bag and you’ll be set for your next camping trip!
7. Pocket Torch: Turn your disposable lighter into a mini blow-torch, with temperatures capable of up to 2300º F! The wind-resistant flame makes it perfect for use in the outdoors. Light stoves, lamps, solder metal, melt snow, start a campfire…whatever you need a good consistent high heat flame to do.

8. Texsport La Paz Hammock: A quality cotton hammock at an extremely affordable price. I’ve been using this hammock for the past 2 year and it’s still holding up strong. I’d suggest purchasing Tree Straps to give you a longer reach between trees and to protect the tree’s bark. See that picture above? That’s me in my Texsport La Paz Hammock, from my last camping trip. Measures 40” x 120” (W x D), with a 75-inch bed length. 300 lb weight limit. Comes with carrying/storage bag.
9. Pocket Chain Saw: This Pocket Chain Saw is pretty impressive; it’s compact, light weight AND dirt cheap. Its quality blows other higher priced saws out of the water. The saw’s carbon steel blades cut through wood as if it were butter. An ideal tool when collecting firewood and clearing trails. Comes with a carrying pouch.
10. Sawyer Mini: When obtaining water that’s not from the tap or bottled, people naturally become weary of bacteria and pathogens. The Sawyer Mini is rated to 0.1 micron absolute, weighs only 2 ounces and filters up to 100,000 gallons! The BEST personal water filtration system on the market today! I had a chance to test it out on my last camping trip. Camped near a stream and filtered my water using the Sawyer Mini.
11. Zippo Hand Warmer: I’ve always known Zippo for their lighters. So when I first heard that they made a hand warmer, I was naturally taken aback. I’m amazed that this even exists. Now when the temperature dips down during those cold camping nights, my hands are going to be toasty warm.
12. Lighter Multi-Tool: This is a nifty little gadget to have while camping. With this, you’ll always have a light, knife, screwdriver (phillips), scissors and bottle opener on hand. To boot, it’s made with 100% imported Japanese 420 Stainless Steel. The lighter fits inside like a glove and the added weight isn’t bothersome.
13. Flint Laces: Be ready for any survival situation by having a surefire way to start a fire at your fingertips. Each lace tip holds a 1-inch ferro rod capped with rubber; enough to produce a spark! Just remove and strike with a steel edge. Just don’t forget to bring your boots!
14. Inflatable Solar Lantern: Inflatable, rechargeable, waterproof and solar powered! It can hold a charge for up to 12 hours and stays bright all night long. The 2014 Consumer Electronics Show innovation design award winner and its company, MPOWERD, is the national honoree of the KATERVA sustainability awards.
15. D. Light S20 Solar LED Area Lantern: features an integrated solar panel, Glow-in-the-Dark ON/OFF Button, multi-position handle and charging via USB adapter (included). 2-brightness modes: High (4 hours) and Low (8 hours). Can hold a charge for up to 1 year. Weather, dust and impact resistant.
16. Credit Card Survival Tool: The Credit Card Survival Tool (Model SVC2) has 6 essential survival tools: Fire Starter (Swedish Magnesium Alloy), 1″ Serrated Blade, Red LED Flashlight, Emergency Signal Whistle, Tooth Pick and Tweezers. The previous model (SVC1) does not include the red LED light, but in its place contains a magnifying glass and compass. Each weigh less than 2 oz and are both great items to have in an emergency situation.
17. Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow: An ultra-soft, lightweight expandable pillow; perfect for camping. It has a brushed polyester cover with urethane foam filling. Packs up into a tiny stuff sack. Comes in three sizes: Small, Medium and Large.

18. Keychain Firestarter: This compact Fire Starter easily fits onto your keychain or backpack. Base has a texturized rubber grip handle and ferro rod attached. Aluminum cover with built in striker snaps to base for a tight fit. Weighs 1.1 o.z. Small, light and compact!
19. Tripod Grill: This is probably my most coveted piece of camping equipment. It’s so fun to be able to lower and raise your food over an open campfire. It includes: 3 bungeed poles that break down for easy transport, a top piece of metal that connects all the three poles, metal chain with metal stopper and camp grill. 20. Pocket Blanket: It’s a blanket that folds up and fits in the palm of your hand. Puncture resistant, water resistant back side and weighted corners for breezy days; sounds like someone tried to perfect the travel blanket. The Matador is also extremely easy to pack up with their “easy-pack pattern” — stitched in fold lines that show you where to fold. Storage pouch also included AND is attached to the blanket! Now you won’t lose the pouch on your next camping trip!
21. Rechargeable Headlamp: One of the best items to have while camping is a headlamp. While doing any activity at night (going to the bathroom, cooking, rummaging through your car/tent, etc.), it’s a heck of a lot easier while having both of your hands free to hold/carry other items. Now wherever you look, you’ll be able to spot exactly what you’re looking for.

22. Portable Camping Grill: All the components for this Ultra Portable Camp Grill are encased in one long metal tube. Inside are metal rods and another smaller metal tube, which make up the grill and legs. It’s such a simple and elegant design. Stow it away in your car, backpack or bug-out bag. (Firebowl not included)
23. Complete Outdoors Encyclopedia: The Ultimate Great Outdoors Reference Guide. First produced in 1972, it has undergone several revisions over the decades (currently in its 5th Ed.). This is the first time the ‘Complete Outdoors Encyclopedia’ has been produced in color, with more than 1,300 photographs and 1,000 diagrams and illustrations. Includes new sections and updated information. This book provides information on all things outdoors: camping, fishing, hunting, guns, boating, wilderness survival, first aid and fish identification.
24. Trumark Slingshot: A slingshot can serve two purposes: a tool (hunting) or a “toy” (target practice). Depending on where you camp (if it’s allowed), you can: set up some cans and try to knock them down or set up a cardboard box (stuffed with newspapers or an old shirt) to trap all your ammo. Be sure to check with the laws in your state before purchasing, they may be illegal in your area.
25. Paracord Bracelet Maker: Make your very own paracord bracelets! Just measure your wrist; hook on the buckle and braid away. Instructions included!I made a list of items that people usually look for when purchasing a bracelet jig: buckles and paracord. I scoured Amazon looking for items/sellers that had the best prices with positive feedback. Edit: I also forgot to add that you can also change the buckle sizes on your Ezzzy-Jig if you wanted to. Just unscrew the buckles you want to change, switch it with a different size and screw them back on. Pretty easy.
