Sugru is a self-setting rubber. You open a Sugru packet to find something that resembles play-dough. You mold the Sugru with your hands, which can bond to almost anything. Overnight it turns into a strong, flexible silicone rubber. For camping, people have used it to fix their tents, sleeping pads, mattresses, boots and zippers. Campers have also used it to insulate metal handles on camp cookware. The possibilities of what you can fix is only limited by your imagination.
Very nifty product Initially I bought this to fix a few vinyl/plastic model figures that were purchased from a yard sale. One of my friends introduced me to this product and well, I was skeptical at first. But, this thing really does what it says. It does bond very well and cures well on almost everything I’ve tried it on so far (I’ve plugged leaks, made rubber grips on some plastic tools and various other things). For someone using this product for the first time, I definitely recommend reading thru the instructions then going to their website and watching a few videos. But it is very simple. Remove from packaging, roll it around your hands and you can mold/meld it to whatever shape your heart desires and it’ll stick to almost everything. After curing, it does leave a bit of the rubber feel (slightly soft rubbery feel) so if that is what you want this would work great. You could also use a gently water/soap solution to smooth out the rubber prior to letting it cure for a smoother…
Do you Sugru? I love this stuff! It has the consistency of Play-Doh when you open the packets and is easily molded into shapes and sticks to most materials. It’s great for fixing things that I wasn’t able to fix before and to make some other things more user friendly. It seems expensive but the repair on my vacuum alone would have cost more than the whole package if that part was even available. A multi color 8 pack came with eight 5 gram packets. There were 2 red, 2 blue, 2 yellow, 1 white and 1 black. The product is waterproof, UV resistant, electrically insulating and dishwasher proof when cured. Curing takes 24 hours. But it starts to harden after about half an hour. I was still able to make some changes on one of my projects over an hour later but it was noticeably firmer. When cured it will withstand temperatures of -58 degrees F to 356 F. When it’s cured it has the bendability similar to an electrical cord. The thicker it is, the less bendable it becomes. It…
