Washing Machine on the go I was given the scrubba as a gift to use on my first real wilderness trip. As someone that isn’t too fond of the outdoors and is an extreme overpacker, the scrubba made the idea of my trip a littler easier. The scrubba is an extremely lightweight bag standing about two feet high, made out of polyurethane material that is highly resistant to rips and tears; it also contains several grooves inside of it. The scrubba is basically a portable washing machine where I was able to wash my clothes while on my adventure, without having to re-wear my filthy, sweaty clothes. Ironically, no matter what I did, I would reek of the wonderful Earthly scent anyways. It also gave me a chance to limit the amount of clothes I packed and stuff my backpack with much needed camping gear. The scrubba is very easy to use and doesn’t take much time. You put about one gallon of water mixed with detergent (or whatever you want to use), place your clothes in bag, fold then roll the opening…
I was very skeptical until I used the Scrubba … I seriously wasn’t sure what to expect with the Scrubba, so I figured I’d give it the ultimate test in grunge. It’s been raining and the dogs have been rushing outside and bringing the most of the yard it with them. The mud is incredible, not unlike what you might get when you’re on an Appalachian trail hike. Well, maybe not that bad, but when you hike you can get pretty sick looking. No one is going to be taking laundry detergent with them, but maybe Dropps. I take them with me when I travel because they are compact and very lightweight. Just throw a few of them in a Ziplock if you’re going hiking and with the Scrubba, you’ll have a ready-made washing machine to tote around.Still skeptical, I took a clean microfiber cloth and scrubbed the floor with it. I got a nice load of mud and dirt in those fibers. When I throw these cloths in my heavy-duty washing machine, they never manage to come clean. Like ever. I figured…
Primarily for backpackers I received this at no cost in exchange for writing a review. Here are my comments.1. This might be something that interests backpackers, but if you have access to a sink or bathtub, forget this. The clothes don’t come out any cleaner in this (the so called “washboard” inside this simply consists of tiny points sticking up like on a bathtub mat), and more importantly, this is a pain to use compared to just filling a sink or bathtub. The most annoying part was getting this to deflate.2. However this does work well as a dry bag, and I like that you can see what’s inside. However you can buy a dry bag this size for much less than the cost of this product.3. I don’t think this works any better than washing your clothes in a large bucket, but you’re not likely to be carrying one of those if you’re backpacking.Bottom line: Unless you’re a backpacker, forget this. Definitely NOT for business trips and small apartments, as the promo for…
