Very Good Camping Cookware This cookware cleans easily, heats evenly, is made of sturdy material, and nest together nicely in its (rather flimsy) mesh bag. I like the dark metal of the pans because they get used over a campfire, and the discoloration caused by the burning wood is not blatantly obvious. The only blot on it’s otherwise excellent report card is the handles. To give these pans an A+ the manufacturer would have to modify the design of the folding handles. It seems a simple hinged metal clip, permanently affixed to one handle that would swing over to temporarily attach onto the other while cooking, would solve the problem nicely. How I resolved this “floppy handle” problem is with the use of high-heat silicone rubber bands, typically meant for home barbeque use. Before I put anything into the pan I rubber-band the two handles together in the middle. I do have to position the pan on the grate over the campfire so the handle is not over the hottest part of the fire, since the rubber bands…
